History
The Priory Hotel is situated on six acres of land on the southern side of the picturesque Irwin River and has often been described as the Midwest's best kept secret.
Originally built as a single storey hotel in 1881 by William Criddle to service the teamsters traveling from Mt Magnet to the Port, it was purchased by the Dominican Sisters who created St Dominic's Priory.
A second storey was added, which was completed in 1909. In 1928 the sisters built a two storey college and boarding school, 'The Dominican Ladies College' which is now the accommodation wing.
The gardens were terraced and landscaped with magnificent palms, peppercorns and gum trees which still grace the majestic building today.
Recently renovated, The Priory Hotel offers many special features from the Colonial Bar to our beautifully restored 1881 Restaurant.
Polished boards, jarrah staircase, high ceilings and period furniture are special features throughout the accommodation building.
